Capitol attack: time for social networks to be held accountable

Hordes of demonstrators invading the Capitol, incited to do so by an outgoing President ready to fight until the end; elected representatives of the people forced to interrupt a session to take cover; police officers having to use their weapons to drive back the insurgents. Seeing the foundations of the world’s largest democracy under attack was unthinkable.

After the indignation and shock, what lessons can we learn from these events? The main lesson is that social media platforms must be held accountable. We, legislators, must make them face up to their responsibilities. My column in l’Opinion
