ON THE ROAD - MUNICH
Final campaign sprint in Munich — Many thanks for the great support! I am convinced that together we can build a better Europe!
Today’s the day: The final sprint of the election campaign in Munich. In addition to Chancellor Angela Merkel, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder and CDU Chairwoman Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, I welcomed thousands of guests, EPP Chairman Joseph Daul, all CSU Honorary Chairmen, Markus Blume, Paul Ziemiak, and a large audience from all over Europe.
In addition to these guests, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Boyko Borissov, and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković visited me in Munich. Also something very special for me, of course, was the appearance of Lech Wałęsa, Nobel Peace Prize winner and former Polish President: Nobody knows as well as he does how important a free Europe is. We must defend our Europe against populists and extremists — from both the left and right! Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz also joined me via video message and expressed their support — along with many other party and government leaders from both the past and present.
We succeeded in bringing Europe together in Munich! This is just the spirit I am standing for: To unite people, to sit down together at one table and find good solutions for a Europe of the future, in which all people live well, in happiness and safety. Let’s make this Europe a reality on Sunday — the choice is up to us!
