Dia Duit, Éirinn !

Agriculture is a major contributor to the Irish economy and the backbone of our rural communities. I talked with young farmers in Wexford, like Michael and Noelle Jordan in Boolavogue, Co Wexford, about the Common Agricultural Policy, the impact of Brexit and their aspiration to grow in the agricultural sector.

I’ve always been a strong supporter of farmers. As the EPP, we will do our utmost to help them. Farmers can count on us because we count on them to preserve our environment.

Michael and Noelle told me about the challenges they’re facing and about their concerns regarding Brexit’s impact on their livelihoods.

We must prevent the chaos currently prevailing in the UK from spreading across the EU. We need clarity before the European elections in May. The Irish people know this better than anyone else: we can only be strong if we are united. When it comes to Brexit, Irish interests are European interests. It is always a great pleasure to meet with my friend Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. I stand 100% behind Irish interests in the Brexit negotiations. Together we are fighting for a better Europe. We are all Irish!
